Horatio Alger Scholars

Class Night was last week at the WPAC, and it was a huge success, with roughly $200k in scholarship funds going out to our graduating seniors! The evening featured stage appearances by community members and business leaders, who all took great pride in handing out scholarship awards to the deserving recipients of the Class of ‘23.

In her remarks at the event, Wendy Harvey highlighted the fact that this graduating class has earned close to 600 college credits, totaling over $100k in savings rolled forward toward their post-secondary pursuits. Wow!

In the attached photo, senior Abdullah Khuder, winner of a $25k Horatio Alger Scholarship, poses with Ryan Menter, a 2021 Alger Scholar from Noble High School. Menter, who is completely blind, gave a moving speech honoring Khuder as a recipient of this prestigious award.

A huge thank you to Jamie Grant and the WPAC staff, as well as to all of the Westbrook community members and business owners who participated. What a night!
