Teachers are learners, too! The Saccarappa School teachers are being trained in computer science instruction using Lego kits from the #MaineTeachesCS initiative.
The Westbrook School Department was awarded this grant through the Maine Department of Education and is fortunate to participate in this computer science learning opportunity. Cara Colgan is leading the charge at Saccarappa and helping teachers integrate computer science into their classrooms.
Saccarappa has three mobile labs that the teachers will become familiar with over the course of the school year. These labs include Robotics and Programming, Augmented and Virtual Reality, and Coding and Hardware.
National Computer Science Week is December 4th - 10th. To recognize this event, all kindergarten through fourth-grade students will be coding during STEAM class throughout December. Be sure to ask your children what they are learning!
Thank you to the Maine DOE for these interactive materials and professional learning opportunities.
