Firefly visited Saccarappa this week to perform for our fourth grade students as part of their Local Stories Project. Firefly's lights and music filled the gym as the students listened to his words and danced to the beats.
Firefly is a Native American artist from the Penobscot Nation, born and raised in Wabanaki territory. He spoke to the students about his heritage, performed traditional Wabanaki songs, and taught the students the corresponding dances.
Following this performance, the students journaled about what they learned and the experiences they engaged in. These journal entries are the basis of the Local Stories Project and will be used as the students create the theatrical performance and in-school mural.
Thank you for sharing your music with us, Firefly!
