Good Morning Congin Cougar Families,
Happy Wednesday! I hope you are all having a terrific week so far, and that you are staying safe and warm with this snow! Just a reminder that we have a two hour delay, so students will be coming into school at 10:25. Additionally, we are still keeping our early release, so students will be dismissed at 2:30! Please plan accordingly for your child.
Here are some updates for this week:
We are still working on our theme of mindfulness. As of Monday, we have practiced 1,251 mindful minutes. The students are doing a great job on this! This is our last week focusing on mindfulness, so I am excited to see what our final total will be. Our theme for February will be Healthy Heart! We will be focusing on activities and ways that we can maintain being healthy (ex. being active, getting a good amount of sleep, eating healthy foods, etc.).
Students went to a Planetarium presentation yesterday at the Westbrook Performing Arts Center. Our cougars were excellent audience members and they learned more about our stars and planets.
Game Club for 3rd and 4th grade will be starting on Thursday! For those who are participating, please make sure to pick up your child at 5pm!
The weather is still cold outside! Just a reminder that our threshold for determining inside/outside recess is 13 degrees. Please make sure your child comes to school with appropriate clothing for these conditions.
Our cougars are reading books for a free pancake at Brea Lu Cafe, and students are turning in their Bikes for Books submissions every time that they read 5 books or read 100 pages! Bikes For Books submissions will be accepted until April 28th!
Want to find out more about our school budget? We will be having two information sessions. The first one is this Thursday at 5:30 at Saccarappa School with a spaghetti dinner served at 5pm. The second one is this Saturday at Westbrook High School at 9:00 with a pancake breakfast starting at 8:30. We hope to see you there to support our school budget this year!
We are continuing to spread the word about our Kindergarten Orientation on February 27th at 6pm in the Congin Cafeteria! This is for any incoming kindergarten student family who plans to attend kindergarten for the 25-26 school year! Additionally, we have kindergarten screening planned for March 27th and 28th. This means that all
current
kindergarten students will not have school on March 27th and 28th. Please call our office if you have any questions.
On Wednesday, February 5th, we will be having a Congin Day at Applebees in South Portland. Show the attached flyer and our Congin PTO will receive 15% of all items purchased on this day!
It's a great day to be a cougar!
Sincerely,
Marc Bisson
Principal
