Good Morning Congin Cougar Families,
Happy Wednesday! Can you believe we only have 7 school days left until December break? I hope you and your family are staying warm and healthy with this sudden change in weather over the last week or so! Here are some updates for this week:
It's an early release day! Students will be dismissed at 2:30 today.
We are continuing our kindness challenge each day at Congin! Students are challenged each day to do a specific act of kindness that we announce on the morning announcements, and when students complete it, they get a shout out on the announcements! Some of the challenges have been writing cards to elderly at the Baron Center, inviting someone new to play with you at recess, etc. Our cougars are doing a great job spreading the kindness this month!
Our overall attendance for this year is at 94%, which is below where we were last year at 95%. Please make sure to bring your child to school every day.
We have noticed that we have an elevated amount of students coming to school late. Please remember to get your child to school between 8:25-8:40. Any student that arrives after 8:40 will be considered tardy.
Game Club for 1st and 2nd grade students will be taking place in January. Permission slips will be due on Friday. We will notify families of students who will be participating next week!
We will also have Reader's Theater happening in January and February for first, second, third, and fourth grade students. Permission slips will be going home today. These permission slips are due by December 19th!
We have had a couple of incidents in the cafeteria with students who are bringing their own lunch in glass pyrex containers. While these are great containers, they are also prone to breaking if students drop them. If we could refrain from sending students to school with glass containers, that would be helpful! Thank you for your attention to this.
The Altrusa Club came to Congin yesterday to read to our kindergarten students. Not only did they read to students, but they also provided students with free books to take home! Thank you to the Altrusa Club. On Friday, we will also have the Kiwanis Club coming to meet with our kindergarteners to read to them and to provide free books!
Just a reminder that we will be on winter break from December 23-January 1st. We will be back in school on January 2nd!
It's a great day to be a cougar!
Sincerely,
Marc Bisson
