Good Morning Congin Cougar Families,
Happy Wednesday! I hope everyone's week is off to a great start! At Congin, a lot of learning is taking place, and students have been working really hard! We are starting to see academic growth, and it's always an exciting time especially with parent teacher conferences coming up! Here are some updates for this week:
Don't forget that today is an early release day! Students will be released starting at 2:20.
Here is our attendance data from last week: K-92.8%, 1- 95.1%, 2- 94.8%, 3-93.5%, and 4- 95.6%. Our whole-school average is 94.7%. Looking at these numbers, we are seeing a dip in our school-wide attendance. Please make sure to be sending your child to school each day when you can. Of course we cannot fix sickness, but please try to avoid vacations or extended periods of time during the school year. This is something that the state looks at when it comes to school performance, so we want to make sure kids come to school.
Bus Driver (and Crossing Guard) Appreciation Week is happening this week. Our PTO has been delivering gifts each day to support our bus drivers and crossing guards!
Last week we had picture day! The students did really well and I am excited for the picture orders to come in! If your child was absent or if you would like your child to participate in picture retakes, this will happen on December 6th!
We have had an influx of parent phone calls to change students' pickup methods after 1pm. PLEASE help us by notifying the office of any changes prior to 1pm. When phone calls come in after that, it makes it extremely difficult to connect with the teachers and make sure that students get to the right place. Thank you for your attention to this and for helping us out.
Please make sure that you are here for parent pick up at 3:25. Additionally, to help us ensure that parent pick ups run smoothly, please stay in your vehicle while the students get into your car. Our line has been getting congested and it would be helpful for parents to remain in their cars. Thank you, again, for your help on this.
The students have been working incredibly hard on Responsibility for this month. Tomorrow we will be having a whole-school assembly to celebrate our work with responsibility and to find out how many apples we earned. To celebrate, students will have a dress up as your favorite book character day on 10/31! Additionally, we will be rolling out our new theme of gratitude for the month of November!
Just a reminder that we will have a half day of school on November 7th, and we will be having Parent/Teacher Conferences that afternoon and evening. Teachers should have sent correspondence regarding scheduling conferences. If you have not received correspondence, please reach out to your child's teacher to schedule. These can be virtual or in person.
We will have no school on November 11th for Veterans Day.
On November 13th, Rio Bravo will be having a Congin Day! Rio Bravo will donate 10% of all food sales on this day directly to Congin!
Congin will be having a Happy Wheels Night on November 15th from 5-7pm. For students to participate, it will be $11, which includes skate rentals, and students need to be accompanied by an adult. We hope to see you there!
It's a great day to be a cougar!
Sincerely,
Marc Bisson
